秦皇岛概况

秦皇岛历史悠久。公元前215年，千古一帝秦始皇东巡驻跸于此，派燕人卢生、方士韩终入海求仙，刻《碣石门辞》，秦皇岛由此得名。始皇求仙药未果，长生之梦在此长眠不醒，秦皇岛也成了中国唯一一个以皇帝名号命名的城市。

秦皇岛市是著名的旅游城市，素以北方不冻良港——秦皇岛港，万里长城东部起点——山海关，旅游避暑胜地——北戴河，南戴河黄金海岸和中国玻璃、桥梁工业基地而闻名中外。它地处河北省东北部，南襟渤海，北依燕山，东临辽宁，西近京津（西距首都北京280公里，距天津243公里），自古是连接华北与东北的咽喉要冲，而今更居东北、华北两大经济区的结合部，环渤海经济圈的中间地带。因其山海制塞，地理位置尤为重要，故有“畿辅咽喉”，“两京锁钥” 之称。

秦皇岛下辖海港区、北戴河区、山海关区三个城市区和抚宁、昌黎、卢龙、青龙满族自治县四个县。全市总面积7812平方公里，人口298万。
